Italian Baroque Era Painter, ca.1571-1610 Italian painter. After an early career as a painter of portraits, still-life and genre scenes he became the most persuasive religious painter of his time. His bold, naturalistic style, which emphasized the common humanity of the apostles and martyrs, flattered the aspirations of the Counter-Reformation Church, while his vivid chiaroscuro enhanced both three-dimensionality and drama, as well as evoking the mystery of the faith. He followed a militantly realist agenda, rejecting both Mannerism and the classicizing naturalism of his main rival, Annibale Carracci. Maximilien Luce
Maximilien Luce (March 13, 1858 - February 6, 1941) was a French Neo-impressionist artist. A printmaker, painter, and anarchist, Luce is best known for his pointillist canvases. He grew up in the working class Montparnasse, and became a painter of landscapes and urban scenes which frequently emphasize the activities of people at work. He was a member of the Groupe de Lagny with Leo Gausson, Émile-Gustave Cavallo-Peduzzi and Lucien Pissarro.

(1523 - 30 January 1584) was a Dutch-born Flemish Renaissance painter. Remi Ommejaghere and his three sons Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk, Bruges, BelgiumPourbus was born in Gouda. He was known primarily for his religious and portrait painting and worked mainly in Bruges, where he had moved from Gouda by 1543. He died in Bruges. His son was the painter Frans Pourbus the Elder and his grandson was Frans Pourbus the younger
